Europass encourages integration with systems and environments that maintain a repository of personal data and offer different services:
- job matching (eg job portals, employment agencies)
- promotion (eg. career offices, human resource management offices)
- profile maintaining (eg blog publishing tools, social networking sites)
To this end, a second version of the SOAP based web services has been made available.
New features
The most important is that the conversion services have been enriched to support conversions between numerous formats.
The
web services of the first version support conversions to Microsoft
Word 97-2003, OpenDocument Text ver2 and Acrobat PDF based on a
Europass XML.
The web services of this version have been enriched and support the following file formats:
- Europass XML 2.0
- HR-XML 2.5
- Adobe PDF with Europass XML 2.0 attachment
- Adobe PDF with HR-XML 2.5 attachment
- Europass JSON 2.0
- Microsoft Word 97-2003
- OpenDocument ver 2 Text
- HTML
More specifically the converted HR-XML documents adhere to version 2.5, while the converted JSON documents follow the Europass JSON Schema.
Furthermore, the new web services accept various formats as input. So, besides Europass XML, conversions are supported for Europass PDF with XML attachment, HR-XML 2.5 and Europass JSON.
In the Web Services
page of the Europass website you may find numerous examples for
calling the web services (for Java and PHP), as well as a Java-based
client tool to call the services and a Java library to include in your
code. Also the documentation of the services is further updated and
enriched aiming to effectively support the Europass users.
You may find detailed documentation on the new services here.
